Its been a very sad few weeks here at Lunapig Cavies :'( We lost George very suddenly, with no warning from unknown causes, and also lost Alys due to toxaemia despite trying so hard to save her :'( two very special pigs. Alys' sister Gracie is pregnant to George, so got everything crossed all goes well and we have some beautiful relations of these fabulous pigs.
Marco took another Best in Show at the Anglo Scottish show at Crook yesterday. He won from a very good entry of 137 pigs, judged by Pete Wardman and Jim Fort. Need to put Marco in with a lady I think so he can pass on those fabulous genes of his :) Lunapig Athena, daughter of Redlands Tristan and Rexcetra Maple, gave birth to 3 gorgeous golden agoutis, 2 boars and 1 sow on 8th June 2013. Aritso Artania gave birth to 5 silver agouti/bi's on 1st June 2013, sadly we lost the little boar, but have 4
This month has been one of ups and downs at Lunapig Cavies. Casper had been fighting an unknown problem for a long time and sadly lost his brave battle on 25th May 2013. We attended the Yorkshire Champs show at Keighley on 25th May and had amazing results in Rex Cavy Club section. Marco won BIS, Best Adult, Best Boar and Best Agouti Bi, Thunder won Reserve BIS and Best Agouti. Very pleased with the boys. Little Bonnie made her first show appearance as U/5, and although coat is soft, received excellent comments from judges. Gracie also did well and got 2nd Best Sow. Gracie is now living with George, hoping for super babies :) Aristo Artania gave birth to 5 gorgeous big babies on 1st June, 4 sows and 1 boar, unfortunately the lovely boar didn't make it, despite trying hard to keep him going :'( We have had two new cinnamon agouti rex join us from Shane Ross, a boar and sow. Got new hutches arriving from Dawsons this week for the new shed, all very exciting. Next show is Anglo Scottish show in 23rd June at Crook.
Long time since have updated the blog :( very exciting news today here at Lunapig Cavies, Rospiggens Credit for Future has safely delivered 4 gorgeous teddy babies :) 3 boars and a sow. the sow will definitely be staying, but some of the boars may be available eventually. Mum and babies doing well :)
Entries went in for Harrogate a couple of weeks back, pretty nerve racking. Casper, either Tornado/Thunder and Gracie are entered in the rex classes and Inka and Strawberry are entered in the teddy classes. Also collecting some
The last month has been a very upsetting one :'( We lost Redlands Darcy :( possibly due to her babies dying inside her and poisoning her, the vets did all they could. And then last week we also lost Redlands Tristan from unknown reasons :( one night he was perfectly happy and the next morning he was at very lethargic and passed away shortly after breakfast :'( we are absolutely heartbroken at the loss of these to fabulous piggies. Saffy our buff satin rex has miscarried 5 little babies atapproximately 5 weeks :( very very sad, just hope she pulls through as she is very depressed at the moment xx
Rexcetra Maple Syrup and Redlands Tristan are the proud parents of 3 gorgeous sows. There was a little boar too, who sadly didn't make it, rip little one :'( The remaining 3 are doing very well, now 11 days old, there are 2 golden agouti and one golden agouti/gold/white. one of the golden agouti will be for sale when she is old enough, the other two will be staying. They already have fantastic ears and very good wavy coats, some show hopefuls for the future :) Redlands Darcy seems to be pregnant which will be a very exciting litter :)
This weekend we are off to the Betley Show with Redlands Tristan, Lunapig Twister and our satin teddy Petal :) hopefully they will hold their own in their classes among such stiff competition xx
Miss Daisy gave birth to two beautiful babies on Saturday morning. I wasn't expecting them so soon, but they were there to great me in the morning, both weighing over 120g :) They are all doing well, babies are both buff/white, one boar and one sow :) I think both will be staying xx
I ventured North of the Border on Sunday to enter the Anglo-Scottish Cavy Show. Tristan won Adult Rex, 2nd in Adult Non Self and 2nd in Adult Coated. Lewis and Twister also did very well :) I did come home with 3 extra though :) 3 beautiful little teddies, thank you to Kirsty Alexander and Suzanne Wight. I now have a Lilac/Gold/White Satin sow, golden roan sow and what seems to be a golden argente boar teddy :) they are all beautiful and have settled in well :) My next show is at Betley on 4th August so if anybody wants anybody off my for sale page I can take them with me xx
Update on Mr Squeaks :) Squeaks is now 10 weeks old today, after such a traumatic start, losing his mum and 4 brothers and sisters, he is now a lively, noisy, bouncing 540g:) may even make it to his first show next month :)
I attended the DNCC Summer show on Sunday with 11 piggies, with everyone coming home with a placing card :D Petal also won the Rex Cavy Club 5/8 Diploma and Lunapig Tornado received the Rex Cavy Club U/5 Diploma. Very pleased with all the piggies, lots of red cards to display woohoo next show is 28th July at Cleveland Show, just got to decide who to take :) Daisy and Maple are both pregnant and getting bigger by the day, should both be due in July. More exciting news, new cages from Dawsons Animal Housing are arriving on Saturday, as well as a fancy grooming table/cabinet yay will post pictures when they are all set up :) xx
Very sad news, Miss Fudge passed away yesterday :( we dont know why as she seemed her normal self the day before. I am devastated, she was my first rex and was only 2 yo. Poor little girl, rest in peace beautiful xxx
